Tips for Selecting (And Enjoying) Your Indoor Water Fountain
Posted by Doug Gardner on 22nd Jul 2014
If you’re currently in the process of choosing an indoor water fountain for your home or office, you may find yourself overwhelmed with the many options that exist. People are often very surprised to find out just how many different fountain types, styles, and designs are available. While it’s tempting to just choose the first fountain you come across or to simply select a fountain that you like, you need to really think about your decision. While the way your fountain looks is, obviously, important, and while you definitely should find your fountain appealing, there are other things to take into consideration as well. Questions to ask yourself and, preferably, the retailer of your fountain, before you make a purchase include:
- What maintenance does the fountain require?
- How frequently is this maintenance required?
- Will the fountain increase my water/energy costs? If so, by about how much?
- Does the fountain have any parts or pieces that need to be replaced regularly?
- What are the costs associated with repairs and replacements?
- What are some common problems this fountain model has?
An Honest Retailer
Obviously, if you don’t like the answers, some of these questions could keep you from buying a particular fountain. For this reason, not all retailers are going to be honest with you. This is why it’s so important to do your research and to find an honest, reputable, fountain retailer. Read online reviews that others have written about their experiences with the company, or ask others who have fountains in their homes or offices for a recommendation. And, of course, you can always research a particular fountain type yourself. In fact, you should, since even the best-sounding fountain retailers can be dishonest or even uninformed about the products they are selling.
A Matter of Space
After you have selected and purchased your fountain, you’re going to need somewhere to put it! Imagine how awful it would be to realize your fountain doesn’t fit into the space you planned to put it or, worse yet, that it doesn’t fit into your home or office at all! For this reason, it’s wise to do some serious planning ahead. Know exactly where you want your fountain to go and actually go so far as to measure the space. It might be a hassle, but when you have this information, you’ll be able to buy a fountain that will definitely work for your space. Furthermore, knowing what you need (and don’t need) can make shopping easier, since you’ll be able to eliminate products that don’t fit in with your plans.
Professional Installation is the Way to Go
Today, you can purchase indoor fountains through a general retailer or online, rather than through a specialized fountain retailer. These units typically require you to set up and install the fountain and, unfortunately, are generally cheaply made products that won’t work as well as those products bought from a fountain retailer. Don’t go this route if you want a positive fountain experience. Instead, buy from a reputable fountain retailer that offers professional installation, and always choose to have your fountain professionally installed.
